Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion

National Institute of Ocean Technology (India) NIOT of India has an on going extensive research program into OTEC. They have recently build the Sagar Shakti reseach vessel which will carry a 1 MW OTEC research plant

Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (USA)

Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University (Japan) Saga University of Japan has an OTEC Laboratory. This laboratory is collaborating with NIOT in India on the Sagar Shakti reserach vessel.

International OTEC/DOWA Association (Taiwan) IOA was established in December 1989 by a group of more than 50 professionals from Asia, Europe and North America, all involved in OTEC and related activities.

Xenesys (Japan) Xenesys is working together with Saga University and the National Institute of Ocean Technology to create the first Indian OTEC pilot plant.

Seasolar Power (USA) Sea Solar Power is the one commercial company which offers to sell OTEC plants of their own design. Sea Solar Power has secured funding from the Able Foundation for their first plant.

Seawater Greenhouse - it combines natural processes, simple construction techniques and advanced computer science to provide a low-cost solution to one of the world's greatest needs - water for agriculture.

Architecture

Arcosanti is a "must see" if you get anywhere near to Arizona, USA. Arcosanti is an urban laboratory designed according to the concept of arcology (architecture + ecology), developed by Italian architect Paolo Soleri. Paolo contents that the urban sprawl is one of the great problems in western society and the car is one of the main causes. There is lot of inspiration to be found here. Truly.
