The Guardian about the Seawater Greenhouse and the Sahara forest project
The UK newspaper The Guardian writes about the ambitious concept the Sahara forest project which is about using seawater and using solar power to grow food in the dessert. The concept uses Seawater Greenhouses as an integral component to make the dessert a sustainable food production facility.Akvo's web platform launched
The Akvo web platform was launched at World Water Week in Stockholm last week by Ms. Tineke Huizinga-Heringa, Secretary of State of the Netherlands Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. The Akvo platform which is in Beta, was launched with 27 pilot projects from over 40 different organisations. Akvo creates and shares internet tools that help to provide clean water and proper sanitation to those who today have none.Saturday, March 22, 2008
Akvo raises half a million Euro
Akvo - the open source for water and sanitation - reached a major milestone on Wednesday, 18 March, when we secured Euro 535k of funding from a number of investors, including Netherlands Water Partnership, Partners for Water and UN-Habitat, allowing the project to go from a great idea to reality.
